About His Pursuit
Mission
His Pursuit invites men into a journey of experiencing God as Father and living as His beloved sons. We provide resources, mentoring and coaching to encourage men to engage this journey in community with others. And we offer outdoor adventures to create an environment for men to encounter God in the wildness of His creation.
Belief Statement
We believe everyone can be transformed by the fatherhood of God.
About Us
We recognize that today’s young people are living under-fathered or fatherless lives. Especially for men, this affects who we are and who we are becoming in this journey toward manhood. In today’s culture, this not only impacts the individual but also the family, our communities, our society, and especially our relationship to God.
The roots of His Pursuit trace back to the childhood of Patrick O’Bryan, when as a third grader he visited the historic home of John Muir. Muir became a childhood hero of Patrick because of Muir’s love for the mountains and passion for experiencing God through His creation. “Everybody needs beauty…places to play in and pray in where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to the body and soul alike.”
Fast forward about 40 years to when Patrick and his wife, Jamie, began leading wilderness experiences with high school and college students in Wyoming. Through those adventures and many since, we have witnessed the transforming work of God in the lives of His sons and daughters as they encounter Him away from the noise and distractions of life in the majesty of the outdoors.
His Pursuit focuses on, but is not limited to, engaging young men – late teens to early 30’s, as well as dads with their sons – in teaching and small group interaction, through outdoor experiences and in local communities. We utilize resources created for His Pursuit and from other sources as an invitation into this journey of discovery with God, as well as follow up after the outdoor experiences.
We hope you will join us as we journey together!
