It was an honor to have so many of our LifeQuest men show up for this experience in the mountains. There were mountains to climb, campfires to sit around, and stories to share. The weekend had been planned for months. Peak foliage in the Adirondack mountains of NY are epic and our timing was perfect. We had no idea the temperatures would go from the 70’s to the 20’s in the span of a week. Men huddled away from the wind and cold inside the dining shelter. We found heat around the stoves at meals. I was nervous the weather would hinder what we’d been praying for for months.
Thankfully, God showed up in a powerful way. Men, fathers, brothers and sons engaged and allowed the Father to become “Daddy.” I was blown away when men began to share their stories after years of silence. Walls of hiding and covering came down to expose old wounds and broken hearts. I was thrilled to see our men engage with the Father in new ways.
My biggest surprise came from my own son. He struggled with connecting with the message. When I pressed for an answer he shared that he couldn’t relate to the idea of having a broken or bad relationship with his Dad (me) or with the Father. I thank God for the relationship He has blessed me with in my son. How rare and beautiful is that to have in our lives.
This journey of restoration at LifeQuest has just begun. We have opened the door for families to be strengthened, marriages to be res-cued and men to live free. Our challenge now is to keep fanning the flames that the Father started on our mountain adventure together.
The men of LifeQuest are so grateful for His Pursuit. The investment in our men’s lives is so vital. We are honored to walk together as friends and brothers with Patrick and the ministry of His Pursuit. Patrick is welcome at our fire any time.
